The Debian team has announced the first alpha release of the installer for Debian 13 "Trixie". The official release of Debian 13 is expected in July 2025 with the new "Ceratopsian" theme.
What's new in the Debian 13 "Trixie" Installer Alpha 1
1. New default theme:
The "Ceratopsian" theme, designed by Elise Couper, is the default theme for Debian 13. This theme is inspired by Trixie, the fictional character from Toy Story, and is influenced by a previous Debian theme called "futurePrototype".
The Debian Desktop Team selected "Ceratopsian" through a public poll where it received the highest ranking among six choices.

The user setup screens have been redesigned for a better user experience.
3. Enhanced partitioning functionality:
The installer features significant improvements to its partitioning capabilities, including better heuristics for automatic partitioning, recipes for small disks, and bug fixes.
4. Hardware support changes:
The installer will no longer be built for the armel and i386 architectures, although they remain in the archive for now. The mipsel architecture was removed from the archive last year. Support for the riscv64 architecture has been added.
5. Localization:
The installer supports 78 languages, with 18 fully translated.
