Hey, GNOME OS users! I have a good news for you. For a while, getting your printer set up on GNOME OS could be a bit tricky. But guess what? Those days are over! Printing now works on GNOME OS!
Before this latest update, discovering certain printers presented a challenge.
While printers that use IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) often appeared right away, connecting other types of printers, like the ones you plug in with a USB cable, was harder.
Many users faced hurdles when trying to add them.
Thanks to Ignacy's amazing work, GNOME OS now handles adding new printers correctly.
Ignacy Kuchciński specifically requested a merge to fix this problem, labeled !3994, back in August. This change makes for a smoother printing experience for you.
You can expect any IPP printer to work, and more importantly, the fix also helps with adding those USB printers you struggled with before.
Developers also needed a related change in freedesktop-sdk for the printing function to work completely, so they are porting that fix.
They encourage further testing, as your feedback helps improve things even more.
Please be mindful that GNOME OS is still unstable, so developers always appreciate testing. You can easily install it on virtual machines and most hardware to try it out yourself. Just head over to os.gnome.org for images and installation instructions.
So, if you've been waiting to print directly from GNOME OS, now is a great time to jump in!
A big shout-out to Ignacy and everyone contributing to make GNOME OS better every day. Go ahead, print that document!

Is this only about GNOME OS or about GNOME in general?
Only GNOME OS.
Ah, thanks!
