Update: Fedora Linux 43 has been cleared for release, with the final target date set for next week. F43 official release set for October 28, 2025. For more details, check the link below.
The Fedora Linux 43 Final release was delayed from its anticipated schedule because the release candidate was declared a "NO-GO" during the Go/No-GO meeting held on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
According to Aoife Moloney, the Fedora Operations Architect, the decision to declare F43 Final RC-1.4 as NO-GO was due to two main reasons:
- Outstanding blocker bugs.
- Insufficient testing coverage.
As a result of this NO-GO decision, the Fedora Project updated the schedule, setting the new aim for the release on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 (designated as target date #1).
The next Go/No-GO meeting to evaluate the release readiness was scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2025.
The initial target date for the Fedora 43 Final release was 21 October, 2025.
Examples of Accepted Blocker Bugs
The decision was made based on a list of outstanding bugs. As of writing this post, there were 4 Accepted Blockers and 1 Accepted 0-day Blocker for the Fedora 43 Final release.
Key issues tracked as Accepted Blockers included:
- Anaconda WebUI (KDE): A bug where the drop-down menu in the Anaconda installer did not work in the KDE environment.
- arm-image-installer: Problems where Radxa Rock Pi 4 and Pine64 RockPro64 boards failed to boot with current Fedora 43 images.
- linux-firmware: A regression concerning mediatek mt7922 wifi.
- python-blivet: Rescue mode failing to mount the
/bootand/boot/efipartitions.
Additionally, an accepted 0-day blocker was recorded regarding the freeipa component, which needed a stable push to fix upgrades from Fedora 41.
Fedora 43 New Release Date
The Fedora team prioritizes stability over speed. They must clear those critical bugs. The new expected launch for Fedora Linux 43 is set October 28, 2025.
