OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Go exclusively for users in India at an affordable cost. Other countries and regions may become eligible in the future, but for now, it's an India-specific offering.

What is ChatGPT Go?
ChatGPT Go is a new, low-cost subscription plan introduced by OpenAI, designed to provide expanded access to ChatGPT’s most popular features at an affordable price.
It offers extended access to features such as GPT-5, image generation, file uploads, and advanced data analysis, alongside a longer memory for conversations.
While ChatGPT Go provides increased usage compared to the free tier, it still has its own usage limits and does not include access to legacy models like GPT-4o or advanced tools found in the more expensive Plus plan.
Availability
ChatGPT Go plan is initially available exclusively in India. While OpenAI is working to expand access to other countries and regions in the future, it is currently geo-restricted to India.
Access to subscribe is being gradually rolled out to all eligible users.
Pricing
The ChatGPT Go subscription is priced at ₹399 per month in India. This is significantly more affordable than the ChatGPT Plus plan, which costs ₹1,999 per month.
Subscriptions are billed automatically monthly and can be cancelled at any time. Payment methods accepted for Go subscriptions include credit cards and UPI.
What's Included in ChatGPT Go Plan?
ChatGPT Go offers everything available in the Free plan, plus additional benefits:
- Extended access to GPT-5: Subscribers can enjoy more usage of OpenAI's flagship model.
- Extended access to image generation: Users can create more images for various purposes.
- Extended access to file uploads: It allows for analysing and working with a greater volume of documents, spreadsheets, and other files.
- Extended access to advanced data analysis: Tools like Python can be used more often for data exploration and problem-solving.
- Longer memory for more personalised responses: A larger context window helps keep conversations flowing more smoothly.
- Access to projects, tasks, and custom GPTs: This provides greater flexibility to organise work, track progress, and build personalised AI tools. (Note: Free tier users can use GPTs, but only paid plans have access to the GPT creator).
Usage Limits
ChatGPT Go includes higher usage limits for core chat and tools compared to the Free plan.
While the Free tier allows limited usage of GPT-4o within a five-hour window, and has stricter rate limits for advanced functionalities like data analysis, file uploads, and image creation, ChatGPT Go users receive "more messages" with GPT-5 and expanded access to multimodal tools.
Limits may vary based on system conditions to ensure a smooth experience.
Differences from ChatGPT Plus
ChatGPT Go focuses on providing more access to popular features at an affordable price. However, it does not include access to legacy models such as GPT-4o.
It also does not include features available with ChatGPT Plus, such as deep research, agent mode, Sora video creation, or connectors.
API usage is also not included and is billed independently. ChatGPT Plus is designed for "advanced users".

ChatGPT Go subscription features are available when using 1-800-ChatGPT on WhatsApp.

Managing Subscriptions
Users can sign up by logging into ChatGPT, clicking on their profile icon, and selecting "Upgrade Plan" then "Try Go".
Existing ChatGPT Plus or Pro subscribers can also switch to Go by managing their subscription in settings.
If switching from Plus or Pro, the current plan remains active until the end of the billing cycle, after which the account switches to Go, and the Go rate will be charged.
There is currently no annual plan available for ChatGPT Go.
