This week in KDE, the focus has been on stabilizing the upcoming Plasma 6.2 release. Developers have been busy fixing bugs and improving performance to ensure a super stable release. This blog post provides an overview of recent changes and improvements made to the KDE Plasma desktop environment.

Noteworthy Features in Plasma 6.2
Despite the focus on Plasma 6.2 stabilization, a few late-breaking features made it into the release. Let us briefly discuss them in the following sections.
Simplified Template Creation
You can now create templates directly by placing files and folders in the ~/Templates
directory. These templates will be accessible in the "Create New…" menu across various Plasma applications, including Dolphin and the desktop environment itself.
This much-requested feature, dating back to 2009, simplifies template creation and improves user workflow.
Simplified VPN Configuration
Plasma 6.2 introduces a user-friendly way to configure VPN connections. By simply clicking on .ovpn
VPN profile files, users can automatically import and configure new VPN connections.
This eliminates the need for manual configuration through the Network Manager. This feature makes the VPN setup much more straightforward.
Enhanced Audio Device Management
Users now have the ability to rename their audio devices. This is useful for users with complex audio setups involving multiple devices. Additionally, users can select the preferred data source used to generate default device names.
Bug Fixes and Performance Enhancements
Besides new features, this week saw a significant number of bug fixes and performance improvements in Plasma 6.2. Some notable fixes are given below:
Improved Clipboard Handling
The Clipboard widget now consistently displays a preview for copied image data,. This fix replaces the previous inconsistent behaviour where a symbolic icon would sometimes appear.
Enhanced Discover Functionality
Discover, Plasma's software centre, received several enhancements. These include a fix for a freezing issue, optimized search performance, and a more refined rating preview carousel that excludes downvoted reviews.
System Settings Refinements
Several bugs within System Settings were addressed, including a crash related to the “Login Screen (SDDM)” page and visual glitches in the Region and Language page. These fixes enhance the stability and usability of KDE's central configuration hub.
These are just glimpses of the things I find worth sharing with our readers. Of course, there are many feature improvements, performance enhancements, and numerous bug fixes.
I suggest referring to this week's KDE blog post by Nate Graham for a more in-depth look.

Easily the biggest improvement will be having a slider for 2nd (external) monitor to control the brightness.
Yes. It is covered in the previous KDE weekly update blog post. https://ostechnix.com/per-monitor-brightness-control-in-kde-plasma-6-2-0/
